1967

Alcohol is "out" - too old fashioned. Today's switched-on youth are into pot and pills. They're turned on, tuned in and dropped out.

In their mod/pop/op styles they au go-go the night away to rock bands with bizarre names, the weirder the better: Big Brother & The Holding Company, The Freudian Slips, The Velvet Underground, Jefferson's Airplane, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Ultimate Spinach, Charlie & The Chaplains. Special fave-raves at the hippest discotheques this month is a "fuzz-box" group, Vanilla Fudge.

Only in 1967, kids! Only in 1967!

Sincerest Form..?

Terry Richardson's photo of Kirsten Dunst in last Sunday's New York Times' T magazine (top) bears a resemblance to a famous series of photos taken by Bobby Grossman in the nineteen-seventies. Shown here are Bobby's portraits of Andy Warhol, David Byrne, Debbie Harry and David Johansen.

More of Bobby's fantastic work can be seen on his site.

All photos copyright the photographers.
